INGREDIENTS
Biotech of nature is unavoidable and continues to transform skin, beauty, and personal care industries. In some cases biomimetic ingredients are produced by fermentation (COQ-10, Hyaluronic Acid) or plant cell cultures. Some are extremely refined chemicals from plant origins (caprylyl/capryl glucoside). Biotech naturals are both environmental wins and highly-processed chemicals. They are typically >1-2% total in a formula. EX: Ethanol, Isopropyl Myristate, Glucono Delta Lactone, Hyaluronic Acid
AMVER’s proprietary extracts are catalysts of revitalizing skin transformation in all of the formulas. They all begin with whole botanics, seaweed or fungi. At the lab in Colorado AMVER uses both ancient methods and innovative sustainable chemistry technology to painstakingly extract the highest quality phytoactives (antioxidants, peptides, proteins, polysaccharides etc). Some extracts take 2 months, others only hours. Phytoactives are ephemeral and as biologic elements they degrade relatively easily. Small batches kept in temperature/UV controlled storage are produced for the purpose of highly active fresh extracts going into each product. As AMVER continues to explore what nature has developed, innovation continues. Extracts and formulas co-evolve serendipitously to create transformative skincare. The 2025 collection features 24 custom extracts.
The steam distillate of fresh botanics contain trace essential oil-related molecules, aromatics and water-bonded phytoactives. These are rare limited-production ingredients due to the massive quantity of fresh botanics required to produce them and a scarcity of artisan-producers. Botanic hydrosols combined with AMVER’s custom extracts are the basis of AMVER’s transformative HYDROs.
Pressing a nut, seed or fruit to release raw oil using a press with no external heat. Cold-processing maintains temperature below 120F. It is essential to maintain trace nutrients, minerals, antioxidants and key fatty acids in these oils. EX: Hemp Seed Oil, Chia Seed Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Supercritical fluid (pressurized) carbon dioxide is a newer green technology in which CO2 is recaptured and reused repeatedly during a closed-loop process that leaves no trace. No toxic solvents or solvent residue occur in this process. It can be a zero-waste process. The resulting extract is an exceptionally high-quality oil with both water-based and oil-based phytoactives. These extracts are distinctly different from essential oils. CO2 extracts in the 2025 collection: Sea Buckthorn, Chamomile, Pomegranate, Raspberry, Turmeric, Rosehip
AMVER produces 5 ferments with probiotics: lactobacilli, yeast and natto. They alter molecular compounds into forms that can be more bioavailable. The results are AMVER’s advanced phytoacConcentrated botanic oils produced by steam-distillation or solvents. AMVER selects steam-distilled, solvent-free, organic, topical-use varietals. Essential oils are present in Radicnt Face Oil and LA A Balm. AMVER follows renown expert Robert Tisserand’s guidelines for the use of safe topical concentration amounts. EU and CIR restrictions / recommendations are also followed. Essential oils are important sources of antioxidants and their fragrance alters mood and emotions. tives which supercharge formulas. Every ferment is bespoke, except for Sake Junmai Daiginio.
Ferments are unique processes of probiotics and enzymes that transform phytoactives into nutrients more easily absorbed and utilized by skin. AMVER currently produces 5 unique ferments with fungi, botanics, lactobacilli, yeast and natto. The resulting advanced phytoactives supercharge some AMVER formulas. Each ferment is proprietary except Sake Junmai Daiginio which is artisan crafted in Japan. Many ferments have a funky gnarly scent. AMVER products with a high concentration of ferments have a distinct funky aroma straight out of the bottle; it disappears within minutes of use.
All formulas with preservatives conform to EU guidelines for topical safety. Preservatives in the collection: Glycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, Glyceryl Laurate, Glyceryl Undecylenate, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid. Impermanence is inevitable. On the product box look at the open container symbol with a time limit. Dispose of the product when this time is up.
Synthetic chemicals are radically avoided as a foundation-level core principle of formulating with nature to transform skin. Elimination of synthetic ingredients avoids nearly all ingredients linked to: toxicity, pollution, fossil fuels and environmental degradation. AMVER’s collection currently contains 2 synthetics: PEG-8 (used in a custom extract) and phenoxyethanol.
Plant waxes and beeswax are exclusively used. Waxes are structural ingredients with important tactile properties. Beeswax and cocoa butter are the only natural ingredients recognized by FDA as occlusives that reduce TEWL. 2025 collection is vegan except LA A Balm which has beeswax.
AMVER seeks out exceptional botanics, seaweed/algae and fungi from pristine environments around the world. The highest quality source ingredients are always selected. As a Colorado-based company, AMVER utilizes local-farmed fungi species and has pioneered the use of American ginseng in our skincare. Many raw ingredients originate from sensitive environments such as deserts, oceans and tropical forests. AMVER looks for global certifications, co-ops and other methods to procure ingredients that are sustainable for the environment. AMVER loves and requires pristine wilderness and all of nature that relies on it. As an emerging brand, it is core to our identity to engage with economic incentives, producers and programs that preserve nature.
Certified-organic ingredients are prioritized when AMVER sources. Check the ingredient list on a product’s web page to see certified-organic designations. Obtaining certification is cost-prohibitive for small producers and usually unavailable outside the US / EU. EX: AMVER’s rose hydrosol is artisan sourced from heirloom rose varietals grown non-certified organic and distilled at a US farm.
Some ingredients are sustainable wild-harvested. EX Atlantic Bladderwrack, Knotweed, Blackberry leaves, Frankincense gum.
